VA Tech Wabag Bags Orders from GAIL and IOCL

VA Tech Wabag, a provider of desalination and water treatment solutions, has secured orders worth ₹340 crore from GAIL (India) Ltd. and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL).

GAIL has awarded Wabag the contract to design, build, and operate (DBO) multiple water treatment facilities at its integrated petrochemical complex in Pata, Uttar Pradesh. The project includes:

  • A 450 m³/hr Ultrafiltration (UF) & Reverse Osmosis (RO)-based Effluent Recycle Plant
  • An Evaporator-based Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plant
  • A New Wastewater Treatment Plant

Augmentation of an Existing Wastewater Treatment Plant

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work will be completed within twenty-four months, followed by six months of operation and maintenance (O&M). Projects and Development India Limited (PDIL) will oversee the project as the Engineer-in-Charge. The facility will help GAIL reuse recovered water as cooling tower makeup water, enhancing sustainability.

Repeat O&M Order from IOCL

Wabag has also secured a ₹20 crore contract from IOCL for the continued operation and maintenance of the Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) Plant at its Panipat Refinery, Haryana. The three-year extension reinforces Wabag’s role in maintaining the facility, which has been under its care since its commissioning in 2006.

Notably, VA Tech Wabag originally designed, constructed, and commissioned this TTRO plant nearly two decades ago. It was the first industrial water recycling plant in India’s oil and gas sector. This marked a significant milestone in industrial water management.

Strengthening Leadership in Industrial Water Treatment

S. Natrajan, Head-Sales and Marketing, India Cluster, said, “We are delighted to have secured these significant industrial water treatment orders. We sincerely thank GAIL and IOCL for their continued confidence in us. These repeat orders reaffirm our strong customer relationships, technical expertise, and leadership in the oil and gas sector”.

As reported by cnbctv18.com, the contracts strengthen Wabag’s role in industrial water recycling and treatment. They also reinforce its commitment to sustainable water management in India’s energy sector.
