Vedanta is nearing the final decision on the location for its fully green aluminium plant, according to Chairman Anil Agarwal. He outlined the company’s strategy to expand aluminium production while integrating renewable energy into operations. “This will be the first aluminium production facility with completely green metal,” he stated.
Alignment with Vedanta’s Corporate Restructuring
The project aligns with Vedanta’s ongoing demerger, which will establish four independent entities focusing on aluminium, oil and gas, power, iron and steel, and base metals. The restructuring has already received approval and is set for completion in the first quarter of the next fiscal year.
Expansion of Aluminium Production
Vedanta Aluminium is increasing its production capacity by three million tons, further solidifying its position in the industry. As part of this expansion, the company has acquired one of Odisha’s largest high-grade bauxite mines, ensuring a steady supply of raw materials.
Aluminium’s Role in Industrial Growth
Aluminium plays a critical role in industrial and infrastructure development, with widespread applications in transportation, defence, and power transmission. As reported by projectstoday.com, Vedanta’s expansion reinforces the importance of aluminium as a key transition material for a sustainable future.
