VJTI Mumbai inaugurated its Centre for Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, a flagship CSR initiative by Archroma (India) Pvt. Ltd. Executed in close partnership with the VJTI Alumni Association, the milestone reflects a shared vision for innovation, sustainability, and cross-sector collaboration.
The initiative gained momentum under the leadership of Anjani Prasad, Vice President – South Asia and Global Head of Innovation for Dyes and Coatings at Archroma; Dr. Sachin Kore, Director of VJTI; Sunil Chari, Distinguished Professor of Practice at VJTI and Managing Director of Rossari Biotech Ltd.; and Dr. Sujatha Parmeswaran, Head of the Department of Technical and Applied Chemistry (DTAC). “The center is more than infrastructure—it reflects our collective commitment to shaping tomorrow’s leaders through sustainability and innovation,” said Prasad.
A Hub for Learning, Experimentation, and Sustainable Development
As per the press release, the centre is designed as a hands-on learning and experimentation hub. It strengthens VJTI’s commitment to sustainability-driven education. In alignment with this vision, DTAC introduced a new open elective course on Sustainability. It enables students to address pressing environmental challenges and develop leadership in sustainable practices.
Insights on Fundamentals of Sustainability
Anjani Prasad led an engaging session on the “Fundamentals of Sustainability”, sparking vibrant discussions among students and faculty. He challenged conventional thinking and encouraged participants to adopt sustainable approaches in industry and academia. He also highlighted the long-term benefits of responsible growth.
Bridging Vision and Action: Entrepreneurial Insights
Sunil Chari captivated students in his session, “Entrepreneurship Unveiled: Bridging Vision and Action – Lessons for Future Founders.” His authentic storytelling and entrepreneurial journey inspired participants to pursue scientific inquiry, embrace innovation, and navigate their career paths with clarity and purpose.
Leadership for a Greener Future
In another highlight, Ulhas Nimkar, founder of NimkarTek Technical Services Pvt. Ltd., shared his strategic insights on sustainability. His talk emphasized the critical role of leadership rooted in environmental consciousness. He encouraged faculty and students to align their future pursuits with sustainable values.
