Gentari, a clean energy solutions provider, has entered into a significant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with AMG Ammonia India Private Limited.
The firm, binding agreement outlines Gentari’s commitment to supply 650 MW of round-the-clock (RTC), carbon-free energy to power AMG Ammonia’s green ammonia facilities.
Gentari Signs PPA with AMG Ammonia is set to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy production and green ammonia development in India.
Renewable Energy Capacity and Storage Infrastructure
As part of the PPA, Gentari will develop approximately 2400 MWp of renewable energy capacity, combining solar and wind power in India.
Gentari will integrate 350 MW / 2100 MWh of energy storage. This will ensure a steady and reliable supply of dispatchable green power to AMG Ammonia’s facilities.
The project will be executed across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, supporting AMG Ammonia’s expansion efforts in the region.
Innovative Power Supply Conditions
One standout feature of this agreement is its ability to meet the demanding requirements of a green ammonia plant. It ensures these needs are met throughout the year, on an hourly basis.
This capability sets a new standard for carbon-free energy supply contracts. It showcases the potential for future agreements in the green ammonia sector.
Gentari’s solution combines renewable energy generation with energy storage, ensuring consistent and firm power delivery.
Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen Goals
AMG Ammonia is developing one of the world’s largest green ammonia platforms, with a target of 5 million tons per year by 2030.
This production will account for one-fifth of India’s green hydrogen production goal under the national green hydrogen mission. It will also make up about ten percent of Europe’s target for green hydrogen imports.
The first million-ton green ammonia project, located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, has already achieved Final Investment Decision (FID).
Integrated Capabilities and Global Expansion
Gentari Signs PPA with AMG Ammonia represents a significant leap forward in Gentari’s ability to deliver end-to-end clean energy solutions.
From generating green electrons to producing green molecules, Gentari is expanding its integrated capabilities.
The partnership aligns with the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework. This enables AMG Ammonia to target European customers and other global markets.
Gentari is actively developing supply chains. The company is also exploring innovations in shipping and logistics. This aims to facilitate efficient delivery of green ammonia to international demand centers.
Strategic Comments from Leadership
Navjit Gill, Country Head for India at Gentari, said, “The project will integrate solar, wind, and energy storage systems. This will create a unique, firm, and dispatchable green energy supply for AMG Ammonia.” With our combined expertise and vision, we aim to drive rapid progress in expanding India’s renewable energy capacity”.
Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, said, “We are driving India’s ambition of becoming a green energy exporter. Our goal is to achieve 5 MTPA of green ammonia capacity by 2030. We are confident that our partnership with Gentari will lead to many more successful agreements.”
