Prof. G.D. Yadav Conferred Prestigious Bhatnagar Fellowship

Prof. Ganapati D. Yadav, a distinguished engineering scientist and one of India’s most prolific innovators, has been honoured with the prestigious Bhatnagar Fellowship by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

The recognition was approved by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Atomic Energy, and PMO, who also serves as the Vice President of the CSIR Society, chaired by the Prime Minister of India.

Prof. G.D. Yadav holds several influential positions.

He currently serves as the National Science Chair (Government of India), Chairman of the Board of Governors at LIT University, and the Former Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai.

A transformative leader, he has earned global recognition for his groundbreaking contributions to science, technology, innovation, and policy.

Contributions to Science and Innovation

Prof. Yadav’s work focuses on critical global issues such as net-zero emissions, green hydrogen production, carbon dioxide refineries, and the valorization of waste biomass and plastics.

Many of his innovations are already in pilot-scale production and are on the verge of commercialization.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has been the recipient of over 150 prestigious awards.

Transforming ICT Mumbai

During his tenure as Vice Chancellor of ICT Mumbai, Prof. Yadav played a pivotal role in transforming the institution into a global leader in chemical education.

Under his leadership, ICT expanded its horizons with two new campuses, 23 academic programs, five new departments, and several centers of excellence, securing unprecedented funding.

He also mentored more than 115 doctoral students, 153 master’s students, and 48 postdoctoral fellows.

Remarkable Research Productivity

Prof. Yadav’s research productivity is nothing short of extraordinary. He has authored 570 original research papers, holds 136 patents, and written three books.

With an h-index of 71, an i10-index of 370, and over 19,500 citations, his contributions to scientific research have had a significant impact worldwide.

Prestigious Honours and Recognition

Among his many accolades, Prof. Yadav received the Padma Shri in 2016. He is one of only 23 living Indians to be elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and the second Indian ever to be inducted into the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Furthermore, Prof. Yadav has been honoured with the Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for Science & Technology (2022), the SASTRA C.N.R. Rao Award (2024), and the Advantage India Chemical Conclave Award (2024), in recognition of his exceptional contributions to both academic research and industrial innovation.

Global Recognition and Leadership in Science

In 2023, Prof. G.D. Yadav was named among Asia’s Top 100 Scientists by Asian Scientist Magazine. The Association of Catalysis Societies of Asia-Pacific also honored him with the Excellence in Catalysis Research Award.

His leadership extends beyond academia, as he serves as the President of the Indian Chemical Society during its centennial jubilee year.

In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. G.D. Yadav plays a significant role in the corporate sector as a sought-after advisor.

He serves as an Independent Director on the boards of seven leading companies. These include Godrej Industries, Clean Science & Technology, Meghmani Organics, Bhageria Industries, Astech Lifesciences, and Dorf Ketal Chemicals India.

Previously, he held board positions at Aarti Industries and Survival Technologies.
