The government has appointed Vikas Kaushal as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for a five-year term.
First Private Sector Executive to Lead HPCL
Kaushal becomes the first private sector executive to head a state-run oil refinery. Previously, he served as the global leader for energy and process industries at Kearney. His extensive experience in the sector positions him well to lead HPCL.
BPCL’s New CMD
Meanwhile, the government is in the process of selecting a new CMD for BPCL as the current chairman, G. Krishnakumar, is set to retire on April 30 this year. The selection process is expected to conclude soon.
Extensive Experience in the Energy Sector
Kaushal has previously advised top leadership at HPCL, Indian Oil, BPCL, and GAIL. According to the petroleum ministry, he is a seasoned global leader with over three decades of experience in the energy, oil and gas, and power sectors.
