Air Liquide will expand its footprint in Gujarat by constructing a second Air Separation Unit (ASU) and a new Cylinder Filling Station (CFS) in Bhagapura. Air Liquide India will build, own, and operate the facilities, which will begin operations in 2027.
Doubling Production Capacity in Gujarat
The strategic investment will more than double Air Liquide’s production capacity in the region, reinforcing its commitment to serving the growing needs of industrial and healthcare sectors in Gujarat. The new ASU will complement the company’s existing plant at Jhagadia, ensuring increased supply reliability and customer reach across the state.
Serving Key Industrial and Healthcare Sectors
The Bhagapura ASU is strategically located to support Gujarat’s booming industries, including automotive, electronics, and battery manufacturing. It will cater to these sectors through a combination of On-Site, Bulk, and Packaged gas deliveries. In addition, the plant will supply medical gases to local hospitals, contributing to the region’s healthcare infrastructure. The ASU will have a production capacity of 200 tons per day, while the new filling station will handle nearly 1,000 gas cylinders daily.
Focus on Sustainability and Renewable Energy
Aligned with Air Liquide’s global sustainability objectives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the Bhagapura site is planned to be powered by renewable energy starting in 2029. The move also supports Gujarat’s Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Policy, reinforcing the state’s clean energy goals.
Expanding National Production Footprint
With this addition, Air Liquide India will operate seven production facilities across North and West India. As reported by pudaily.com, the company currently produces nearly 1,500 tons per day of industrial gases like oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. The upcoming project further solidifies its position as a key player in India’s industrial gas sector.
