UPL Unveils Weed Management Solution

UPL Sustainable Agri Solutions, a crop protection provider and a global agri-business company, launched Brucia®, a new post-emergent herbicide designed specifically for maize crops. With advanced chemistry and a novel active ingredient, Brucia® delivers a fast, safe, and efficient solution to tackle persistent and resistant weeds in Indian maize fields.

Powerful and Precise Weed Control

Brucia® offers maize farmers rapid action against both broadleaf and grassy weeds when applied at the 2-to-4 leaf stage of weed growth. With an ultra-low dose of just 50 ml per acre, it ensures effective weed suppression while reducing manual labor. By protecting crops during their critical early growth stage, Brucia® helps farmers boost productivity, cut costs, and improve profitability.

Launch Event in Karnataka

UPL officially launched Brucia® in Karnataka in the presence of key channel partners. Dealers and distributors will offer it across major maize-growing districts, starting with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Leadership Voices

Biswajit Borah, Herbicides Portfolio Lead, highlighted, “We are proud to introduce Brucia, a next-generation herbicide developed specifically to address the growing challenges faced by maize farmers. With rising weed resistance and shifting climate patterns, Brucia offers a reliable, cost-effective, and easy-to-use solution that empowers farmers to protect their crops during the most critical early growth stages.”

Jagadeesh Yerneni, Business Head, South and East, emphasized, “While the initial launch is centered on Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, we plan to extend Brucia® to more districts across South India. Recognising the severe impact of climate change and crop losses on smallholder farmers, we remain committed to driving positive change by introducing innovative crop protection solutions.”
