NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the renewable energy subsidiary of NTPC, has successfully commissioned 49.1 MW of solar power under Phase 3 of its 300 MW Khavda solar project in Bhuj, Gujarat.

New Capacity Becomes Operational

The newly commissioned capacity became commercially operational at midnight on August 22, 2025. This addition falls under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project, marking another step forward in NGEL’s aggressive push toward renewable energy expansion.

Earlier Phases Laid Strong Foundation

Earlier, NGEL had brought 142.2 MW online in Phase 1 on June 28, followed by 32.8 MW in Phase 2 on June 30. These milestones, as reported by Projects Today, highlight the project’s rapid progress and the growing importance of Khavda as a solar energy hub in India.

Driving Renewable Growth Strategy

This commissioning aligns closely with NTPC Green’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy footprint. By leveraging higher utilisation across operational assets and adding new capacity, NGEL continues to strengthen its position in the green energy sector.

The Khavda additions not only contribute to India’s renewable targets but also reinforce NGEL’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition.
