NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan-based ENEOS Corporation to explore collaboration in the supply of green methanol and other green hydrogen derivatives. NTPC Green Energy and ENEOS exchanged the MoU on 10 October 2025 during the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, marking a significant step in fostering global partnerships for clean energy solutions.
Developing India’s Green Hydrogen Hub
The partnership complements NGEL’s ongoing development of its 1,200-acre green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. The hub is envisioned as an integrated center for green chemical production and exports, leveraging NGEL’s expertise in renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives. By collaborating with ENEOS, NGEL aims to meet international demand for hydrogen derivatives while positioning India as a global player in the green hydrogen economy.
Driving Renewable Growth and Decarbonization
The agreement aligns with NGEL’s strategic target of achieving a 60 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032. It also supports India’s clean energy transition and its commitment to net-zero emissions, reinforcing the country’s leadership in sustainable energy technologies. Through this collaboration, both NGEL and ENEOS aim to accelerate global decarbonization efforts while promoting innovative solutions for industrial-scale green hydrogen utilization.
A Strategic Step for Global Energy Partnerships
By combining NGEL’s renewable energy expertise with ENEOS’s demand for hydrogen derivatives, the MoU paves the way for long-term collaboration in green chemicals, energy exports, and international clean energy initiatives. As reported by projectstoday.com, the initiative highlights India’s growing role in international green hydrogen markets and demonstrates the potential of cross-border partnerships in advancing sustainable industrial solutions.
