Eurofragance, the Spanish multinational fragrance house, is set to unveil Olivante®, its fourth proprietary perfumery ingredient, at the Beautyworld Middle East trade show in Dubai on October 27, 2025. This exclusive creation embodies modern opulence—rich, complex, and sustainable—bringing depth and distinction to fragrance compositions.
Redefining Opulence in Fragrance Design
As a global player in Middle Eastern fragrance design, Eurofragance developed Olivante® to meet the region’s preference for luxurious and powerful scent profiles. The ingredient offers phenolic and animalic nuances reminiscent of castoreum, making it ideal for mukhallat-type creations often celebrated in the Gulf.
Yet Olivante® transcends regional boundaries. Eurofragance perfumers found it equally transformative in Western-style perfumes, where it enhances richness and balance. With Olivante®, fruity notes gain depth, gourmand tones become more delectable, and white florals exude greater intensity. Despite being derived from olive residual matter after oil extraction, the ingredient remains free of any oily scent.
A Bridge Between Olfactive Cultures
Belén Garcia, Master Perfumer at Eurofragance, said “In recent years, Western consumers have embraced bold Middle Eastern notes such as leather and oud. Olivante® captures these complex olfactive aspects in a way that resonates globally.”
Sustainability at the Core
Olivante® is the result of Eurofragance’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and circular innovation. The company collaborated with a partner in the olive oil industry to upcycle olive residues. They turned byproducts from oil extraction into a new, valuable raw material.
Felipe San Juan, R&D Manager of Ingredients and Fragrance Performance, and Magdalena Rey, Technical Perfumer at Eurofragance, led the research journey. They spent months exploring the Spanish countryside to identify the olive variety with the optimal concentration of aromatic compounds. Over two years, the team worked with a waste management engineer to source the ideal pulp, then refined it through an eco-friendly, multi-step purification process, ultimately transforming it into the distinctive Olivante®.
“Olivante® cannot be made from any random olive pulp,” San Juan emphasized. “Terroir and climate from a very specific Spanish region are essential. We applied our scientific expertise to isolate the odorant molecules that give Olivante® its unique and desirable scent profile,” Juan added. The perfumery ingredient is now under patent review, marking another milestone in Eurofragance’s innovation journey.
An Ingredient Rooted in Mediterranean Heritage
The name Olivante® draws inspiration from the Levant—the cradle of the olive tree. Its cultivation spread westward across the Mediterranean through Phoenician trade routes and ultimately flourished in Spain. Reflecting this legacy, Eurofragance introduces a Spanish-born ingredient with global appeal, merging tradition, craftsmanship, and scientific precision.
A Versatile and Responsible Creation
According to Sine Guçetil, Global Marketing Director at Eurofragance, Olivante® offers “a new way to express opulence—richer yet fresher, luxurious yet light.” Early formulations show promise not only in fine fragrances but also in personal care and home fragrance applications, highlighting its adaptability. “Olivante® delivers olfactive richness in a more caring and sustainable way,” Guçetil noted. “Its story of upcycling and Mediterranean heritage makes it highly relevant for brands seeking both authenticity and environmental responsibility,” Guçetil added.
A Sustainable Olfactory Milestone
As per the press release, with Olivante®, Eurofragance reinforces its position as an innovator blending art, science, and sustainability. This 100% natural, upcycled perfumery ingredient offers perfumers a new tool to craft luxurious compositions. It also resonates with consumers who value both beauty and purpose.
