Alpex Solar has announced a significant expansion of its upcoming solar cell manufacturing facility in Kosi Kotwan, Uttar Pradesh, increasing its planned capacity from 1.6 GW to 2.2 GW. The strategic upgrade underscores Alpex Solar’s commitment to advancing India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem and strengthening its position as a leading renewable energy solutions provider.
Integrating Advanced G12R TOPCon Technology
The enhanced facility will deploy G12R Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology, one of the most efficient and advanced solar cell technologies available globally. This transition will enable Alpex to deliver high-efficiency, next-generation solar cells designed to meet the growing demand for clean energy solutions. Alpex Solar will fully fund the total capital expenditure (capex) of ₹31.36 billion through internal accruals, reflecting its robust financial position and long-term confidence in India’s renewable energy growth trajectory.
Phased Development Plan
The expansion project will be executed in two phases:
*Phase I: Establishment of 1.4 GW G12R TOPCon capacity, with trial production expected in Q1 of FY 2026–27.
*Phase II: Addition of 800 MW of capacity, scheduled for completion within six months after the first phase.
