OIL Green Energy Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil India Limited, signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt. Ltd. to jointly develop integrated bioenergy and sustainable waste management projects across India. Both companies will establish a 50:50 joint venture company focused on compressed biogas (CBG), waste-to-energy and other sustainable infrastructure opportunities. The collaboration aligns with India’s clean energy transition goals and supports the country’s circular economy initiatives.

The proposed joint venture will explore opportunities in CBG production, integrated waste-to-energy projects and sustainable resource recovery solutions in suitable regions across India. Oil Green was established to lead Oil India’s strategic expansion into renewable and green energy sectors, including compressed biogas and emerging clean energy technologies. As a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Oil India maintains a strong presence across the hydrocarbon value chain, including exploration, production and transportation of crude oil and natural gas. Through Oil Green, the company is actively diversifying into sustainable energy solutions to support India’s long-term energy transition.
Advanced Waste-to-Energy Expertise
Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd., is recognised for its technology-driven expertise in the biogas and waste management sector. The company specialises in the design, engineering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of municipal solid waste-based bioenergy projects. Notably, Hindustan Waste has successfully implemented advanced international technologies in India, including a municipal solid waste-based biogas plant in North Goa that has been operating successfully for more than a decade.
Collaboration Supports India’s Clean Energy Goals
The partnership seeks to leverage Oil Green’s institutional strength and energy sector experience alongside HWT’s technological and operational capabilities.
