Anton Paar India hosted the first day of NEXUS 2026 at Ramada by Wyndham, Navi Mumbai, bringing together experts, scientists, researchers and industry professionals from the pharmaceutical and food sectors. Held under the theme “Industry Insights. Technology. Experience.”, the two-day industry forum focuses on how advanced analytical and measurement technologies can help companies address challenges in product development, quality control, regulatory compliance and manufacturing. The programme combines expert-led technical sessions with live demonstrations, allowing participants to connect analytical science with practical industrial applications.
Experts Discuss Analytical Challenges in Pharma and Food
Nitin Prabhakar, Managing Director, Anton Paar India, said NEXUS aims to connect analytical science with real-world industry challenges rather than limiting discussions to theory. The first day brought pharmaceutical and food industry experts together with application specialists and live technologies. Discussions covered pharmaceutical material characterisation, regulatory preparedness, food texture, flow behaviour and processing performance. According to Prabhakar, advanced measurements can help companies make better decisions throughout the product lifecycle, from development and testing to manufacturing and quality assurance.
Pharmaceutical Sessions Focus on Drug Development and Compliance
The pharmaceutical programme brought together perspectives from drug development, formulation, analytical research and regulated laboratory environments. Dr. Benedikt Schrode, Global Product Manager – X-ray Diffraction, Anton Paar GmbH, explained how X-ray diffraction can provide valuable insights into active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical materials. Meanwhile, Dr. Vaibhav Dubey, Senior General Manager, Sun Pharma, highlighted the growing importance of understanding particles, interfaces and material stability in next-generation drug delivery systems. Dr. Amit Gosar, Vice President – Analytical Research, Indoco Remedies, addressed the evolving regulatory environment, including trace-level impurities, nitrosamines, NDSRIs, elemental impurities and advanced solid-state characterisation.
Data Integrity and Digital Laboratory Workflows
The event also examined how laboratories can move beyond basic compliance and build greater confidence in their analytical processes. Jörg Bämpfer, Global Product Manager, Anton Paar GmbH, discussed key areas including data integrity, traceability, instrument qualification, digital data management and integrated laboratory workflows. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important as pharmaceutical laboratories adopt more connected and digitally managed analytical environments.
Food Industry Sessions Explore Rheology and Processing
The programme shifted its focus to the food industry, examining the relationship between raw materials, processing conditions, material structure and finished-product quality. Prof. Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), discussed rheological characterisation and extrusion technology. Dr. Suresh Sakhare, Scientist G, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, explored flour, dough and starch behaviour and their role in developing improved food products. The sessions demonstrated how analytical measurements can help food manufacturers better understand processing behaviour and achieve greater consistency in finished products.
Connecting Material Properties with Consumer Experience
Nitin Prabhakar further highlighted the growing importance of understanding what happens between raw materials and the final consumer experience. The sessions examined how rheology, starch behaviour, dough characteristics and processing conditions can influence product consistency and quality. Dr. Banu Sezer also connected measurements such as particle size, viscosity, rheology, texture and crystallisation with practical considerations including processing, stability and consumer acceptance.
NEXUS Technology Expo Showcases Analytical Solutions
A major highlight of Day One was the NEXUS Technology Expo, where participants experienced live demonstrations of Anton Paar’s analytical and measurement technologies and interacted directly with application specialists.
The showcase covered a broad range of applications, including:
Rheology and viscometry
Density and concentration measurement
Particle characterisation
Surface and material characterisation
FTIR and Raman spectroscopy
X-ray analysis
Microwave sample preparation
True density measurement
Flash point and petroleum testing
Process measurement
Laboratory automation
The live demonstrations enabled participants to understand how complementary analytical techniques can work together within industrial measurement workflows.
NEXUS 2026 Continues to Drive Technology Adoption
Day One concluded with practical discussions on integrating analytical techniques to improve material understanding, process optimisation and quality control. The second day of NEXUS 2026, continuing on October 8, will further connect industry perspectives with advanced analytical technologies. As per the press release, through NEXUS 2026, Anton Paar India is strengthening its focus on helping pharmaceutical and food companies better understand materials, optimise manufacturing processes and make data-driven, technology-enabled decisions.
