Suzlon Group plans to invest approximately ₹550 crore to establish three AI-powered wind turbine blade factories as it seeks to accelerate order execution and meet rising demand in India’s wind energy sector. Company co-founder Girish Tanti shared. The company plans to establish two new facilities in Gujarat and Karnataka, while the third will come up in Tamil Nadu. According to Tanti, Suzlon expects to complete the projects by 2027. Currently, Suzlon operates five blade manufacturing facilities in Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule and Anantapur. With the three additional plants, the company aims to strengthen its manufacturing network and expand its smart manufacturing capabilities.

₹550 Crore Investment to Support New Facilities

Suzlon will fund the three projects through internal accruals. Of the total planned capital expenditure, the company has earmarked ₹200 crore for the Tamil Nadu facility, with the remaining investment allocated to the Gujarat and Karnataka plants. Suzlon plans to locate the new factories closer to wind power project sites. This approach could streamline logistics, reduce transportation requirements and improve the efficiency of blade deliveries. The expansion also aligns with India’s efforts to promote domestic manufacturing and increase the adoption of efficient, locally manufactured wind energy equipment.

AI and Automation to Transform Blade Manufacturing

The proposed facilities will incorporate artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions to improve manufacturing productivity, product quality and workplace safety. By integrating smart technologies into production processes, Suzlon aims to create more efficient and reliable manufacturing operations. In addition, the company is expanding its use of automation and digital systems across its manufacturing network. These technologies will help improve operational visibility, strengthen quality control and support faster production cycles.

Suzlon Strengthens Manufacturing with Digital Technologies

Suzlon has already introduced automation in blade manufacturing at its existing facilities. The company is now scaling an integrated digital architecture across nacelle production by combining Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Internet of Things (IoT) integration and robotics for critical manufacturing tasks. Moreover, AI-enabled vision systems help detect product defects in real time, allowing manufacturing teams to identify quality issues earlier in the production process.

As reported by business-standard.com, Suzlon is also using digital quality platforms, including AskCQMS, and its SAFER safety app to strengthen quality assurance, workplace safety and traceability. Girish Tanti said Suzlon is developing a new generation of smart factories that combine automation, advanced analytics, AI-driven decision-making and digitally integrated operations to deliver faster, leaner and more reliable manufacturing.
