Adani Group Eyeing Titanium Project in Andhra Pradesh

A delegation led by the Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in Amaravati to discuss the proposed ₹16,000-crore titanium plant in Srikakulam district. The project is part of the Adani Group’s broader plans to develop value-added products from beach sand minerals and strengthen domestic mineral processing capabilities.

Project to Focus on Beach Sand Minerals

During the meeting, the Adani Group delegation briefed the Chief Minister on the potential of beach sand mining, mineral processing, industrial applications and market opportunities. The proposed project could process ilmenite, a titanium-bearing mineral found in beach sand, into higher-value products such as titanium slag, titanium dioxide and titanium sponge. These materials have applications across several industries, including paints, plastics and polymers, creating opportunities to build a broader domestic titanium value chain.

Adani Group Presents Visakhapatnam Development Plans

In addition to the titanium project, the group presented a Master Plan for a proposed data centre and IT park in Visakhapatnam. The plans also include the development of skill-development facilities, which could support workforce development alongside the group’s proposed industrial investments in the state.

Andhra Pradesh Pushes Integrated Mineral Value Chain

The Chief Minister called for an integrated value chain that prioritises domestic mineral processing and value addition. Such an approach could help maximise economic benefits from the state’s mineral resources, create higher-value industrial products and reduce India’s dependence on imports of critical minerals and processed materials.
