Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), marking a significant leap toward integrating academic research with industry expertise. The partnership focuses on advancing sustainable, plant-based healthcare solutions through innovative research and development.
Driving Innovation Through Agricultural Science
Under the collaboration, Akums and TNAU aim to jointly explore novel applications of agri-based inputs for use in pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. The Department of Processing and Food Engineering at the Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AEC&RI), TNAU, will lead research into plant-derived resources that can form the base of eco-friendly and effective formulations.
Akums to Lead Formulation Development and Commercialization
As reported by pharmabiz.com, Akums will contribute its extensive experience in pharmaceutical development, collaborating closely with AEC&RI, Kumulur, to commercialize new formulations. The products will cater to both domestic and global markets, aligning with the ICAR-sponsored CRP on Secondary Agriculture (SA) Project, funded by CIPHET, Ludhiana.
Hands-On Training and Real-World Exposure for Students
The collaboration also emphasizes education and training. Akums will provide industrial training and internship opportunities to students, offering practical exposure to pharmaceutical processing and modern formulation techniques. This initiative aims to develop a future-ready workforce by merging academic knowledge with industry practices.
