AkzoNobel Unveils Low Bake Coatings to Cut CO₂ Emissions

AkzoNobel introduced its Interpon 600 and 610 Low-E powder coatings in India, targeting a transformative shift in industrial manufacturing. Designed to lower carbon emissions and increase production efficiency, these coatings offer a smart solution for manufacturers striving to reduce their environmental footprint without sacrificing performance.

Smarter Coatings for a More Efficient Future

The Interpon 600 and 610 Low-E series are low-bake powder coatings engineered to cure at temperatures 50°C lower than standard coatings. This not only cuts energy consumption by up to 20% but also improves curing speeds by up to 25%, significantly boosting throughput and productivity. Despite their lower energy requirements, these coatings maintain high-quality performance across a full spectrum of finishes — from smooth to textured — and feature antigassing properties. This ensures efficient gas release from porous substrates, helping to prevent common defects like pinholes and blooming.

 Addressing Industrial Emissions Head-On

India’s industrial sector contributes roughly 25% of the nation’s CO₂ emissions, making energy-efficient innovations like low-bake coatings crucial to meeting climate goals. The launch of the Interpon Low-E range aligns with both industry needs and environmental responsibilities.

Şirvan Canıtez, Commercial Director, AkzoNobel Powder Coatings South Asia, emphasized, “Given the scale and projected growth of India’s manufacturing sector — and its contribution to national carbon emissions — the performance gains manufacturers can achieve by improving productivity and reducing energy use with Interpon 600 and 610 Low-E represent a clear win-win offering.”

Versatile Applications for a Wide Range of Industries

The new coatings are suitable for both interior and exterior use, making them ideal for various applications, including:

*HVAC systems

*Electrical cabinets

*Gates and fences

*Furniture

*Agricultural and construction equipment

As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the versatile coatings provide a sustainable, high-performance solution across sectors. They enable manufacturers to stay competitive while contributing to a greener industrial landscape.
