AmpIn Energy Transition announced a strategic partnership with Jupiter International to establish a joint venture focused on solar manufacturing. The partnership aims to set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with the capacity to produce up to 1.3 gigawatts of high-quality solar cells and modules.

The initiative aligns with the PLI tranche-II scheme of the Indian government, which supports the government’s goal to boost domestic manufacturing, reduce reliance on solar imports, and mitigate global supply chain disruptions.

By venturing into solar manufacturing, AmpIn Energy intends to strengthen its position in the supply chain for essential components. The demand for solar cells produced in India is strong, and with favourable policies in place, it is expected that production costs will decrease, making the Indian solar industry more competitive.

As reported by businessline, Jupiter International already has an 800-megawatt solar cell manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh, which provides a solid foundation for this partnership. The collaboration seeks to leverage Jupiter’s extensive expertise and AmpIn’s commitment to delivering low-cost renewable power to its customers.

As part of the joint venture’s terms, the solar modules produced will be used locally by AmpIn and also supplied to third-party developers, contributing to both domestic and export growth in India’s renewable energy sector.
