BASF and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL), a global player in lithium-ion battery technology, have entered into a strategic framework agreement to collaborate on cathode active materials (CAM). The global cooperation strengthens both companies’ positions in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle and energy storage sectors.
BASF to Support CATL’s Global Expansion
As part of the agreement, CATL has selected BASF as a key supplier of cathode active materials. BASF will support CATL’s international operations through its expansive global production network, enabling efficient supply chain solutions and localized manufacturing support.
Strengthening Global Battery Supply Chains
As per the press release, the collaboration aims to enhance the stability and scalability of the battery material supply chain. BASF’s global footprint and expertise in cathode materials will complement CATL’s battery production capabilities. This partnership will enable both companies to meet the growing global demand for high-performance batteries.
