Best Agrolife Ltd (BAL), an agrochemical manufacturer in India, secured registration for the indigenous manufacturing of Defender, a formulation tailored for paddy cultivation. The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) has granted registration under section 9(3) to Seedlings India Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Best Agrolife Ltd. Branded as Defender, the innovative formulation combines pymetrozine 30%, dinotefuran 10%, and pyraclostrobin 20%, providing dual-action protection against insect pests and fungal diseases in paddy crops.
Defender significantly enhances crop health and productivity, offering four times stronger protection against fungal diseases such as early blight, frog eye leaf spot, alternaria leaf spot, and Aalternaria leaf blight compared to conventional solutions. Furthermore, it effectively eradicates brown planthopper (BPH), a major threat to paddy crops, ensuring improved yields and crop resilience.
BAL is poised to commence commercial production and sales of defender from May 2024. With an estimated annual business size of ₹150 crore, BAL anticipates generating revenue of approximately ₹80 to ₹100 crore initially, with gradual increases expected each year.
As per the press release, the achievement underscores BAL’s commitment to driving innovation in agriculture and empowering farmers with advanced solutions. Defender exemplifies this commitment, providing farmers with a potent tool to overcome challenges and achieve success in paddy cultivation.
