BPCL Pioneers Compressed Bio Gas Production in Chhattisgarh

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a fortune 500 Maharatna energy conglomerate, announced a significant achievement in its dedication to sustainable energy solutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between BPCL, the Chhattisgarh biofuel development authority, and the municipal corporations of Raipur and Bhilai, marking a pivotal step towards a cleaner and more eco-friendly future.

BPCL will establish Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants in Raipur and Bhilai, with an estimated investment of ₹100 crore each. The cutting-edge facilities will possess a processing capacity ranging from 100 to 150 tons per day, utilizing municipal solid waste to produce biofuel.

By harnessing approximately 200-250 metric tons of municipal solid waste daily for biofuel production, the initiative lays the groundwork for a sustainable and circular economy. As reported by PSU Connect, BPCL aims to accelerate the transition towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future for all stakeholders.
