Equinor and Linde have recently entered into a collaborative project development agreement for the establishment of the H2M Eemshaven low-carbon hydrogen (H2) project in the Netherlands. In this partnership, Equinor will ensure access to carbon transport and storage capabilities, while providing low-carbon hydrogen to the market. Linde, on the other hand, will be responsible for constructing, co-owning, and operating the hydrogen production and carbon capture and transfer facility.

The aim is to construct a facility within the Eemshaven industrial zone, dedicated to transforming natural gas from the Norwegian continental shelf into low-carbon hydrogen through the process of carbon capture and storage (CCS). The innovative approach targets the capture and safe, permanent storage of over 95% of the produced carbon dioxide beneath the seabed offshore Norway.

As reported by H2TECH, anticipated to commence production in late 2028, the hydrogen plant will be intricately connected to onshore hydrogen pipelines strategically planned in both the Netherlands and Germany. This strategic initiative aligns with the broader objective of advancing sustainable and eco-friendly hydrogen solutions.
