The Gujarat government signed a deal with MeOH Giga Battery and Australian Premium Solar Pty Ltd, both based in Australia. The aim of the agreements is to accelerate the state’s progress in achieving its renewable energy targets. Notably, Welspun and Kiri Industries have formed partnerships with German companies Lili Navitas and Sundronix, creating opportunities for Gujarat to export green ammonia and hydrogen to Europe.

To further support green hydrogen initiatives, the state government unveiled a strategic land allocation plan offering various benefits to companies investing in the sector. According to the policy, companies are required to achieve 50% of their green hydrogen production capacity within five years of plant commissioning and reach 100% within eight years.

As reported by RenewableWatch, in October 2023, Gujarat introduced its comprehensive renewable energy policy, placing a significant focus on tapping into the state’s considerable potential of 36 GW in solar and 143 GW in wind capacity. The policy aims to facilitate the development of 100 GW of cumulative renewable energy capacity by 2030, with an estimated investment of around ₹5,000 billion, utilising approximately 4,00,000 acres of land.
