Hindustan Zinc and Silox Expand Low-Carbon Zinc Partnership

Hindustan Zinc Limited and Silox India strengthened their partnership, with Silox India adopting EcoZen, Hindustan Zinc’s low-carbon zinc brand, across its manufacturing operations. The move marks a significant step toward lowering emissions within India’s industrial supply chains.

EcoZen Integration to Cut Embedded Emissions

Through the collaboration, Silox India will integrate EcoZen into its production processes to reduce the embedded carbon footprint of its zinc-based chemical products. As a result, the partnership advances the adoption of low-carbon manufacturing practices while maintaining product performance and reliability.

Asia’s First Low-Carbon Zinc

Hindustan Zinc produces EcoZen, Asia’s first low-carbon zinc, entirely using renewable energy. It carries a verified carbon footprint of less than one tonne of CO₂ per tonne of zinc, which is nearly 75 per cent lower than the global industry average. Moreover, the product offers full traceability and third-party verification, enabling customers to transparently account for and report environmental impact across their value chains.

Lower Emissions in Galvanising Applications

In galvanising applications, the use of EcoZen can help avoid approximately 400 kg of CO₂ emissions per tonne of steel when compared with conventional zinc, according to the companies. Consequently, EcoZen offers both environmental and operational advantages for downstream industries.

Leadership Highlights Decarbonisation Strategy

Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc, said, “Decarbonisation at Hindustan Zinc is not limited to how we operate but also to how our products are used across industries. By partnering with customers like Silox India, we are enabling the wider adoption of low-carbon solutions at scale”.

Silox India Aligns Sustainability Goals

Prakash Raman, Managing Director of Silox added, “Integrating EcoZen into our manufacturing processes allows us to lower embedded emissions across our product portfolio, while continuing to deliver high-performance solutions to our customers”. Autocarpro.in reports that third-party verified life-cycle assessments, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and ISO and REACH certifications support EcoZen, reinforcing its credibility as a low-carbon material for industrial applications.
