IIT-B Secures Forty-fifth Spot in Engineering and Technology Rankings

IIT Bombay has achieved an impressive global ranking of 45th in engineering and technology, securing the top position in the South Asia region with an overall score of 79.1 out of 100 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2024.

Notably, the institute has made significant strides compared to its 2023 performance, improving by two places in engineering and technology. It has also been recognized in four out of five broad subject areas, including engineering and technology, natural sciences, social sciences and management, and arts and humanities.

The breakdown of rankings across various disciplines showcases IIT Bombay’s prowess, with notable achievements in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, civil and structural engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering, and minerals and mining engineering.

The institute’s academic reputation shines particularly bright in mathematics, in engineering, specifically in mineral and mining engineering. In citations per paper and H-Index, IIT Bombay excels in engineering, specifically in minerals and mining, reflecting its strong research output and impact. Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Bombay, attributed the success to the dedication and hard work of the institution’s stakeholders – students, staff, and faculty.
