India and Germany reviewed their ongoing energy cooperation and identified opportunities to strengthen collaboration on energy security, electrification, low-carbon development, carbon markets and supply-chain diversification. Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal held a bilateral meeting with Carsten Schneider, German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Climate Protection and Nuclear Safety, in New Delhi. During the meeting, both Ministers reviewed ongoing energy initiatives and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation. The discussions build on the longstanding relationship between the two countries, which recently marked 75 years of diplomatic relations and 25 years of the Strategic Partnership.

Both sides recognised that energy security, low-carbon development and carbon markets are closely interconnected. Therefore, India and Germany reaffirmed their commitment to developing a secure, affordable and sustainable energy future.
