On the occasion of World Environment Day, industry leaders renewed their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable growth. From eliminating water waste to innovating in renewables and mining, companies are turning pledges into action.

Precision Blasting and Nitrate-Free Explosives for a Cleaner Future

Highlighting progress in the explosives sector, Shubham Choudhari, Chief Technology Officer at SBL Energy Ltd, noted, “Sustainability is rapidly becoming the foundation of industrial decision-making,” he said. “Electronic detonators, designed for precision blasting, are helping reduce over-break, ground vibration, and dust generation—making mining operations both safer and more environmentally sound.”

He further emphasized the emergence of nitrate-free explosives, such as hydrogen peroxide-based emulsion formulations, as effective alternatives. “These innovations reduce carbon emissions and eliminate nitrate contamination,” Choudhari added. “This is the future direction the industry must embrace,” he added.

Tackling the Hidden Challenges of Renewable Waste

Praveen Kakulte, CEO of POWERCON Group, said, “While renewables are inherently clean, they still have a long way to go in adopting sustainable end-of-life practices”. He pointed to the growing challenge of disposing fibre-reinforced plastics used in wind turbine components and the massive waste problem from end-of-life solar PV panels.

“Simply repurposing this waste isn’t enough,” he said. “True sustainability demands innovation—not just damage control. It’s not just a goal; it’s our moral responsibility,” he added.

Solar Innovation as a Path to Land Restoration

D.V. Manjunatha, Founder and Managing Director of Emmvee, linked clean energy innovation to global climate resilience efforts. “This World Environment Day, as the world focuses on land restoration and builds resistance to desertification and drought, we must also ensure that clean energy restores ecological balance,” he stated. Manjunatha reinforced Emmvee’s commitment to solar technology innovation as a tool for community empowerment and environmental healing. He said, “Renewables can do more than reduce emissions—they can revive degraded landscapes and build a sustainable legacy for future generations.”

A Collective Push Toward Greener Industry

From mining to solar, industry leaders are aligning innovation with environmental responsibility. As reported by etenergyworld.com, World Environment Day 2025 draws attention to climate action and ecological balance. These initiatives reflect a growing recognition that sustainability is no longer optional—it’s imperative.
