Loom Solar received an additional land allotment of 33,400 sq m (approximately 8.25 acres) from the government of Uttar Pradesh at the Industrial Model Land Corporation (IMLC) in Meerut. The land will house an independent solar module manufacturing facility, further strengthening the company’s production capabilities in the state.
Expanding Manufacturing Footprint in Uttar Pradesh
The Meerut facility will complement Loom Solar’s existing 7.5-acre site in Kosi, where a 1.2 GW solar module production unit is currently under development. Together, these two facilities significantly enhance Loom Solar’s manufacturing capacity in Uttar Pradesh. As a result, the state is emerging as a key hub in India’s domestic solar supply chain.
Supporting India’s Growing Solar Demand
The Meerut plant will feature a high-throughput production line designed to support Loom Solar’s multi-gigawatt manufacturing strategy. This expansion directly aligns with India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. By scaling up domestic production, Loom Solar aims to meet rising demand while contributing to the country’s energy security and sustainability goals.
Leadership Perspective on Strategic Expansion
Amod Anand, Co-Founder and Director, stated that India’s energy independence will be driven by strong domestic manufacturing supported by policy alignment. He emphasised that the new facility in Meerut, alongside the 1.2 GW Kosi plant, provides the infrastructure needed to meet India’s multi-GW solar demand through fully indigenous capacity. He also acknowledged the Uttar Pradesh government’s support in enabling this expansion.
Alignment with National Manufacturing Initiatives
Loom Solar’s expansion strategy closely aligns with key government initiatives, including Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Production-Linked Incentive Scheme, ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) regulations and Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) policies. Through these frameworks, the company aims to reduce dependence on imported solar modules while strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Expanding into Energy Storage Solutions
In addition to solar manufacturing, Loom Solar is actively expanding its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) portfolio. The company is targeting both utility-scale and distributed applications to support grid stability as renewable energy adoption accelerates.
As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, Loom Solar’s new land acquisition in Meerut marks a significant step in scaling its manufacturing capabilities and supporting India’s clean energy transition. By aligning with national policies and investing in both solar and storage solutions, the company is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s renewable energy future.
