L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore (LTEH Offshore) bagged a contract worth more than ₹15,000 crore from ADNOC Offshore for the development of the Umm Shaif Gas Cap, a $6.2 billion offshore gas development project in Abu Dhabi. The project marks one of L&T’s largest international offshore energy contracts and further strengthens the company’s presence in the Middle East’s oil and gas sector.

Consortium to Deliver Offshore Infrastructure

The project will be executed through a consortium, with LTEH Offshore serving as the lead partner. Under the contract, the company will undertake the majority of the project scope, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) of multiple offshore facilities. Additionally, the scope includes the modernisation and upgrade of existing offshore infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and production capacity.

L&T Highlights Engineering Expertise

S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro Ltd, said the prestigious contract reflects ADNOC’s confidence in L&T’s engineering excellence, project execution capabilities, and proven ability to deliver complex offshore energy infrastructure safely and on schedule. He added that, as a long-standing partner in the region, L&T remains committed to supporting the UAE’s energy ambitions by delivering innovative, sustainable, and world-class offshore engineering solutions.

Project Reinforces India-UAE Energy Partnership

According to an official ADNOC release, the award also highlights the growing strategic energy partnership between the United Arab Emirates and India. The statement noted that as bilateral energy cooperation continues to expand, India is expected to become ADNOC’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) customer by 2029. ADNOC is therefore accelerating its natural gas growth strategy to ensure reliable long-term energy supplies while creating additional opportunities for collaboration with Indian engineering and technology companies.

Supporting Regional Energy Security

The participation of L&T in the Umm Shaif Gas Cap project demonstrates the increasing role of Indian engineering companies in delivering large-scale global energy infrastructure. As reported by msn.com, the project is expected to contribute significantly to Abu Dhabi’s offshore gas production capacity while supporting ADNOC’s long-term strategy to strengthen energy security and meet growing global demand for natural gas. For L&T, the contract further reinforces its leadership in executing complex offshore EPCIC projects and expands its footprint in one of the world’s most important energy markets.
