The Board of Nitta Gelatin India Limited has announced an expansion of capacity by 1,000 MT per year for collagen peptide manufacturing at the Gelatin division. Although the preparatory work for the project began on January 1, 2023, global events, including the looming threat of a global recession and its potential impact on collagen peptide demand from international customers, have prompted the management to reassess the detailed project report.
As reported by MarketScreener, as an alternative strategy, the company is also exploring the option of debottlenecking the existing collagen peptide plant. This involves increasing the current capacity and adopting a two-stage implementation approach to mitigate the risk associated with higher capital expenditure.
