Pace Digitek Infra Private Limited bagged multiple contracts from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the development of a 250 MW/500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Maithon in Jharkhand. The project marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s grid-scale energy storage infrastructure and supporting renewable energy integration into the power network.
Comprehensive Scope Covers Supply, EPC and Long-Term O&M
Pace Digitek will undertake the supply of plant and equipment, including mandatory spare parts for the battery storage facility. In addition, the company will execute complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services covering project design, engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning. The agreement also includes comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of 12 years, ensuring long-term operational reliability and system performance.
Total Contract Value
The aggregate value of the contracts stands at ₹7,019.54 million, including GST. The large-scale investment highlights the growing importance of battery energy storage systems in enhancing grid stability, managing renewable power fluctuations, and improving energy efficiency across India’s power sector.
Project Scheduled for Completion in 18 Months
Pace Digitek stated that the supply and EPC portions of the project are expected to be completed within 18 months from the receipt of the Letter of Award. Once operational, the Maithon BESS facility will help support peak load management, improve grid reliability, and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the regional power system.
Growing Momentum for Energy Storage in India
India’s energy transition strategy increasingly emphasizes battery storage systems to support renewable energy expansion and grid modernization. Large-scale BESS projects such as the Maithon installation are expected to play a critical role in balancing power supply and demand while enabling greater adoption of solar and wind energy. As reported by pv-magazine-india.com, with this order, Pace Digitek further strengthens its position in India’s fast-growing energy infrastructure and clean energy solutions market.
