RBM Infracon has achieved a significant milestone with a successful oil discovery at the Nandej field in Gujarat, strengthening its position in upstream exploration and production. The company drilled and completed two wells—NJ134 (RBM-01) and NJ135 (RBM-02)—marking a major operational success. NJ134 (RBM-01) was spudded on January 14, 2026. NJ135 (RBM-02) followed on February 14, 2026. Both wells have been successfully completed and are currently contributing to production, highlighting efficient execution and strong technical capability.
Strong Production Potential Demonstrated
Together, the two wells demonstrate a peak production potential of up to 100 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), signalling a promising boost to domestic crude oil output. NJ134 reached a depth of 1,763 metres and encountered two hydrocarbon-bearing zones—Kalol-VIII and Kalol-IX. Currently producing around 25 BOPD during testing from the Kalol-IX zone. Further optimisation is expected to enhance output. NJ135, drilled to 1,750 metres, also intersected the same zones. Already producing approximately 75 BOPD, indicating strong initial performance. As a result, both wells confirm the commercial viability of the Nandej field.
Strategic Importance of the Nandej Field
The development holds particular significance as RBM Infracon operates the field under a Revenue Sharing Contract with ONGC, with a 66% revenue share. Consequently, the successful drilling campaign not only enhances production but also strengthens the company’s long-term revenue prospects.
Expansion Plans to Unlock Full Potential
Encouraged by the positive results, RBM Infracon is now planning additional drilling activities to further develop the Nandej field. Going forward, the company aims to increase overall production levels, fully exploit identified hydrocarbon zones and strengthen its footprint in India’s upstream oil and gas sector.
Boosting Domestic Energy Production
As reported by projectstoday.ai, the breakthrough reinforces efforts to enhance domestic oil production and reduce reliance on imports. By successfully tapping into the Nandej field, RBM Infracon is contributing to India’s broader goal of energy security and resource optimisation.
