Samina Hamied Resigns from Cipla Executive Vice Chairman Role

Samina Hamied resigned as executive vice chairperson, Cipla, citing personal and family commitments. Effective March 31, she will transition to the role of a non-executive director, subject to retirement by rotation. Samina Hamied, a third-generation representative of the promoter family, is the daughter of non-executive vice-chairman MK Hamied and the niece of non-executive chairman YK Hamied.

The decision comes amidst Cipla’s impressive financial performance in the third quarter, where it reported a 32.25% increase in profit to ₹1,068.41 crore compared to ₹807.83 crore in the corresponding period last year. Consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter rose to ₹6,603.81 crore, marking a 13.66% increase from the previous year.

As reported by mint, Cipla’s total income for the third quarter stood at ₹6,788.44 crore, reflecting a 14.58% growth. Revenue from pharmaceuticals amounted to ₹6,365.06 crore, while revenue from new ventures reached ₹280.51 crore during the quarter.
