Somaiya Vidyavihar Hosts ICTEAH 2025 Global Conference in Mumbai

Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU) successfully hosted the second International Conference on Technologies for Energy, Agriculture, and Healthcare (ICTEAH-2025) at its Mumbai campus. Organised by the K J Somaiya School of Engineering, the event brought together over 120 delegates—including researchers, policymakers, and industry experts—to discuss cutting-edge technologies shaping a sustainable future.

A Grand Inauguration

The conference was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Sanjay Jambhulkar (Senior Scientist, BARC), Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai (Vice Chancellor, SVU and former Chairman, UGC), Dr. Suresh Ukarande (Director & Dean, K J Somaiya School of Engineering), Dr. Nandkumar Gilke (Registrar, SVU), and Dr. Shailesh Nikam (Organising Secretary and Professor).

Keynote Insights on Emerging Challenges

Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai highlighted the growing health risks driven by environmental factors. He pointed out that even a marginal increase in temperature is intensifying heat-related illnesses for 12% of the global population. He also introduced the emerging field of exposomics, which explores the impact of environmental exposures on human health, underlining the critical role of healthcare in global sustainability efforts.

Dynamic Sessions and Paper Presentations

ICTEAH 2025 featured 93 paper presentations and 7 posters across clean energy, precision agriculture, and digital healthcare domains. The event served as a vibrant knowledge-sharing platform, encouraging collaboration between academia and industry. Selected papers will be published by Taylor & Francis with individual DOIs and submitted for Scopus indexing, enhancing their global research visibility.

Expert Perspectives on Technology and Sustainability

The conference featured thought-provoking talks from experts across disciplines:

*Dr. Sanjay Jambhulkar discussed the application of emerging technologies in agriculture and their role in enhancing food security.

*Dr. Sudhir Ranjan Jain provided insights into quantum computation and its transformative potential for sustainable energy systems.

*Dr. Nandkumar Kunchge advocated for regenerative agricultural practices that reconnect modern farming with natural ecosystems.

*Dr. S.D. Sharma presented advanced palliative surgical procedures for patients with congenital heart conditions, highlighting innovation in healthcare delivery.

Call to Action for Collaborative Innovation

“Energy, agriculture, and healthcare are the three critical pillars of our future,” said Dr. Suresh Ukarande. He stressed the urgency of collaborative research in renewable energy, citing future innovations like compact, high-efficiency solar panels. “This is where academia, industry, and policymakers must come together to address real-world challenges,” he added.

Recognising Excellence

The conference also celebrated academic excellence. The organizers presented Best Paper Awards to Dr. Sarika Bukkawar, Mr. Haseen Shaikh, Ms. Sonia Pol, and Mr. Nitish Yadav across various domains. They honored Ms. Alka Dattatray Gadakh with the Best Poster Award. They also awarded Certificates of Excellence to participants and student volunteers for their dedication and performance.
