UK and Korea Collaborate for Clean Energy

The UK and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have collaborated for clean energy partnership aimed at enhancing energy security and expediting the shift towards clean energy. The collaboration solidifies joint efforts in the areas of clean energy transition, low carbon technologies, civil nuclear, and domestic climate policies. By fostering business collaboration, both nations seek to overcome trade barriers and facilitate the mutual development of each country’s energy sectors.

Both are committed to doubling down on their pledges under the Paris Agreement, striving to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. A key focus is the joint endeavour to phase out unabated coal power from their energy systems, aligning with the shared goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

As reported Valve world, the partnership is accompanied by significant investment from South Korean businesses, injecting over £10 billion into the UK. The funding will support renewable energy and infrastructure projects throughout the country.
