Waaree Energies Ltd, one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, approved a capital expenditure of ₹3,900 crore to establish a solar glass manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day (TPD). The project will be developed through the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Green Glass, and is expected to strengthen Waaree’s integrated solar manufacturing capabilities.
Strengthening Domestic Solar Manufacturing
The proposed solar glass facility represents a significant step in enhancing domestic manufacturing capacity for critical solar components. Solar glass is an essential material used in photovoltaic (PV) modules, providing durability, protection, and improved efficiency for solar panels. By investing in solar glass manufacturing, Waaree Energies aims to reduce supply chain dependence on imports while supporting India’s rapidly expanding solar energy sector. The project will also contribute to the country’s broader goal of strengthening local manufacturing under the renewable energy ecosystem.
Increasing Stake in Waaree Transpower
As reported by pv-magazine-india.com, through investments in solar glass manufacturing and transformer technology, Waaree Energies is reinforcing its position across the renewable energy and power infrastructure value chain. These strategic initiatives are expected to support long-term growth, improve supply chain integration, and enhance the company’s ability to serve India’s rapidly expanding clean energy market.
