WABAG Bags AFD & BEI Funded Consortium Contract for Water Treatment Project

VA TECH WABAG, specialising in water technology, has bagged an order for the Design, Build, Operate (DBO) consortium project for the 345 MLD Béjaoua drinking water treatment plant. This contract is valued at approximately €63 million and has been awarded by Societe Nationale D’exploitation Et De Distribution Des Eaux (SONEDE).

Funding for the project is being provided by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Investment Bank (BEI). The project’s timeline spans thirty months for its execution, followed by a twelve-month operation and maintenance phase.

VA TECH WABAG would be responsible for engineering and procurement as well as operation and maintenance, constituting approximately half of the total consortium order value. Further, the tasks include the design, engineering, and supply of electromechanical equipment, such as modern and compact Lamella clarifiers, as well as the installation and commissioning of the plant. Additionally, VA TECH WABAG will oversee a one-year operation and maintenance period.

As reported by BIZZ BUZZ, VA TECH WABAG serves as the leader of the consortium, with Entreprise Gloulou Mohamed et Salem (EGMS) as their consortium partner. EGMS will assume responsibility for all civil works associated with the project.
