The Avaada Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Gujarat to invest ₹36,000 crore in large-scale renewable energy projects across the state. The landmark agreement underscores Avaada’s commitment to driving India’s clean energy transition and supporting Gujarat’s vision of becoming a leading renewable energy hub.
Massive Renewable Energy Push Across Gujarat
Under the MoU, Avaada will develop a diverse renewable energy portfolio, including:
- 5 GW of solar power capacity,
- 1 GW of wind energy projects, and
- 5 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The projects will be spread across Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar districts—regions well-suited for renewable energy generation due to their vast land availability and favorable climatic conditions. Planned for commissioning between 2027 and 2030, these initiatives will significantly contribute to Gujarat’s sustainable growth, energy independence, and long-term carbon reduction goals.
Strengthening Gujarat’s Green Energy Footprint
Avaada already has a strong presence in Gujarat’s renewable energy landscape. The company is currently operating a 280 MW solar power project in Surendranagar and a 100 MW solar plant in Vadodara. With the new investments, Avaada aims to expand its footprint while reinforcing its role as a key partner in India’s renewable energy mission. The integration of battery energy storage systems will enhance grid stability. It will also improve the management of intermittent renewable generation, ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply.
Driving Jobs, Growth, and Sustainability
Beyond clean energy generation, Avaada’s projects will bring significant socio-economic benefits to Gujarat. The renewable energy expansion is expected to create over 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs, alongside 5,000 employment opportunities during the construction phase. The large-scale investment supports the state’s push for green industrial development. It also aims to attract private capital and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Reinforcing India’s Clean Energy Goals
The partnership between Avaada and the Gujarat government reflects India’s push toward renewable energy. It aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the 2070 net-zero target. By integrating solar, wind, and storage, Avaada’s initiative exemplifies the next generation of hybrid renewable projects capable of delivering both energy security and environmental resilience. As reported by projectstoday.com, India continues to scale up its renewable capacity. Collaborations like this show how public-private partnerships can drive transformative change, delivering cleaner energy, greener jobs, and a more sustainable future.
