EREMA Group and Lindner Washtech have established a new joint subsidiary, EREMA India, marking a strategic expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing plastics recycling markets. With the inauguration held in New Delhi, the move reinforces both companies’ long-term commitment to India’s ambitious recycling targets and rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
Manfred Hackl, CEO of the EREMA Group, emphasized that India represents one of the most dynamic plastics recycling markets globally. By combining local presence with integrated system expertise, the company aims to provide faster access to advanced mechanical recycling technologies and stronger on-ground support for Indian recyclers.
Unified Extrusion and Washing Expertise Under One Roof
EREMA India consolidates EREMA’s extrusion technologies and Lindner Washtech’s washing systems into a single, coordinated structure. The new subsidiary builds on a decades-long partnership and strengthens technical integration across the recycling value chain.
Deepak Mehta, newly appointed Managing Director and Partner of EREMA India, highlighted that the focus will remain on customer proximity, fast service response, and local spare parts availability. By blending decades of market experience with European technology leadership, the company intends to deliver sustainable value to India’s recycling industry.
India’s Expanding Recycling Market Drives Technology Demand
India’s population of 1.47 billion and a growing middle class continue to push demand for consumer goods—and consequently plastics. According to projections by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), plastic consumption in India could increase more than fivefold between 2019 and 2060.
In response, the government has introduced ambitious circular economy goals, including stricter Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations and expanding collection and sorting systems. For example, in the bottle-to-bottle segment alone, around 25 recycling plants with a combined capacity of approximately 600,000 tonnes are expected to be operational by 2026. Furthermore, mandatory recycling quotas for plastic packaging will gradually rise to 60% by 2029, significantly increasing demand for high-quality recyclates. Christoph Wöss, Global Sales Director at EREMA, noted that regulatory momentum and higher quality requirements make India a strategically important growth market.
European Technology for High-Quality Recyclates
Through EREMA India, recyclers gain direct access to European washing, extrusion, and thermal decontamination technologies. By integrating Lindner’s washing systems with EREMA’s extrusion solutions, the company delivers fully coordinated process chains. These systems achieve high throughput while ensuring consistent output quality.
This integrated approach allows recyclers to meet increasingly strict standards, including international food-contact compliance. Local service teams provide commissioning support, troubleshooting, and after-sales service to ensure high system availability.
Advanced PET and Polyolefin Recycling Solutions
In the bottle-to-bottle sector, EREMA’s PET recycling technologies are already operating successfully with several Indian customers. These systems help achieve superior colour values and optimized polymer properties, providing a competitive advantage.
For polyolefins such as HDPE, LDPE, and PP, integrated recycling lines manage complex post-consumer waste streams efficiently. After washing and separation, the INTAREMA® extrusion system, combined with the ReFresher module, removes odours effectively and ensures premium-quality recycled output. Additionally, EREMA India offers ReadyMac and ReadyWash systems. These standardized, fast-delivery solutions are designed for customers seeking high-quality recycling technology at a competitive price point.
Two Strategic Locations and a New Customer Center
The subsidiary operates from two key locations in India.
Vadodara, Gujarat: Houses the main sales office and a new Customer Center where recyclers can conduct material trials under real production conditions. The facility will soon feature a ReadyMac HD recycling machine equipped with EREMA Laserfilter technology. It will also include laboratory equipment for rapid material testing.
Mumbai: Hosts an additional sales and service office to strengthen customer support across western and southern India.
By integrating experienced local teams into its new structure, EREMA India ensures continuity in commissioning, servicing, and customer engagement.
Supporting Circular Economy Transition
Ultimately, the establishment of EREMA India represents a strategic response to India’s accelerating circular economy transition. By combining local expertise with advanced European recycling technology, EREMA and Lindner Washtech aim to empower recyclers across India. The initiative will help them meet stricter regulations, improve production efficiency, and produce high-quality recyclates at scale. As reported by erema.com, India is intensifying its push toward closed-loop systems and food-grade recycled materials. EREMA India is positioning itself at the center of this transformation.
