CANNON Artes Commences Work on Major Saudi Desalination Plant

CANNON Artes bagged a major contract to design and supply a large-scale seawater desalination plant for the 3GW Hajr Expansion CCGT IPP Project in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The project underscores the company’s growing role in delivering advanced water treatment solutions for large-scale industrial and energy infrastructure.

Part of a $2.6 Billion Power Development

ACWA Power, the Saudi Electricity Company, and Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. jointly developed the $2.6 billion combined-cycle power project, with the desalination plant as an integral component. Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities are being led by Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas.

Entering Detailed Design and Execution Phase

As the project enters the design phase, CANNON Artes will deliver an efficient system supporting its sustainable water treatment goals.

Delivering 34,000 m³ of Treated Seawater Daily

The press release states that the facility will treat 34,000 cubic meters of seawater daily to produce demineralized, potable, and service water for plant operations. Each element of the system has been engineered for optimal efficiency, reliability, and environmental compliance.

Commitment to Sustainability and Resource Efficiency

By exceeding local regulatory standards, CANNON Artes continues to reinforce its commitment to environmental stewardship and resource optimization. The project demonstrates how advances in desalination can boost cleaner power generation.
