Cipla Limited announced the elevation of Achin Gupta, Global Chief Operating Officer, as Managing Director & Global Chief Executive Officer (MD & GCEO), effective April 1, 2026, for a term of five years. Achin will succeed Umang Vohra, who has led the company as MD & GCEO since 2016. Achin Gupta has served as Global Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) since February 2025, overseeing Cipla’s Commercial Markets, API, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain operations. Since joining Cipla in 2021 as CEO of the One India Business, he has been an integral part of the Management Council, driving exceptional growth and operational excellence.
As per company press release, under his leadership, Cipla’s India business achieved market-leading profitability, expanded its presence in chronic therapies and underserved geographies, and enhanced consumer-centric innovation. Achin also spearheaded strategic global partnerships, strengthening Cipla’s position as a preferred innovation-led collaborator.
