The Board of Directors of the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) elected S. Sankarasubramanian, Managing Director and CEO of Coromandel International Ltd, as the new Chairman of FAI. The decision was made during the board meeting held on October 31, 2025.
Change in Leadership Roles
With this appointment, Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd, will now serve as the sole Co-Chairman of the association. Dr. Mohanty previously held the position jointly as one of the two Co-Chairmen.
Extensive Industry Experience
Sankarasubramanian currently serves as Co-Chairman of the FAI Board and Chairman of FAI’s Southern Region. He has over three decades of experience in the fertiliser sector, particularly in the Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) segment. Moreover, he is widely recognized for driving strategic growth and industry development.

Sankarasubramanian said, “FAI is driving innovation and sustainability through resource efficiency and balanced nutrition, and we are working closely with policymakers to achieve Atmanirbharta in the fertiliser sector. We will continue to align industry goals with national agricultural priorities to foster growth, resilience, and long-term food security.”
Acknowledgment of Outgoing Chairman
As per the press release, FAI extended its gratitude to Sailesh C. Mehta, the outgoing Chairman, for his leadership and continued commitment to the sector. The association noted that it looks forward to his ongoing guidance and support.
