CUK Professor Sheshanath Bhosale Earns Spot in World’s Top Two Percent Organic Chemists

Prof. Sheshanath Vishwanath Bhosale, UGC-Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK), Kalaburagi, has been named among the world’s top 2% scientists for 2025 in the field of organic chemistry. The prestigious global ranking, compiled by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier, recognises scientists for their lifetime research impact based on key indicators such as publications, citations, h-index, and composite scores. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Prof. Bhosale has earned a place on this globally respected list, reaffirming his outstanding contributions to chemical sciences.

Global Recognition for Research Excellence

The Central University of Karnataka hailed the achievement as a “matter of great pride,” celebrating the international recognition of one of its leading faculty members. “It is a remarkable achievement that brings glory to the University and will motivate other researchers to aim high,” said CUK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Battu Satyanarayana, congratulating Prof. Bhosale on his continued success. Registrar Prof. R. R. Biradar also extended his best wishes on the milestone.

Distinguished Academic and Research Career

Prof. Bhosale joined the School of Chemical Sciences at CUK in March 2023. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, and a Member of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences — honours that underscore his leadership in the global scientific community.

He obtained his Ph.D. from Freie University, Berlin, Germany, and pursued post-doctoral research at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. His career includes prestigious Australian Research Council Fellowships at Monash University and RMIT University in Melbourne, followed by a tenure as UGC-FRP Professor at Goa University.

Prolific Contributions to Scientific Literature

A prolific researcher, Prof. Bhosale has authored over 300 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals, which have collectively received more than 10,000 citations. He holds an impressive h-index of 45, demonstrating the wide impact and influence of his work. His scholarly contributions also include 15 book chapters, one edited volume, and the supervision of 15 Ph.D. scholars, shaping the next generation of chemists.

Editorial Leadership and Peer Recognition

Prof. Bhosale plays a significant role in the global research community through his editorial and peer-review work. He serves on the editorial boards of reputed journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, ChemistryOpen (Wiley-VCH), and Aggregates (Wiley-VCH), among others. Prof. Bhosale’s research focuses on designing and synthesizing small organic molecules. His work has applications in multiple cutting-edge areas, including nanomaterials, supramolecular chemistry, sensors, and lipid chemistry.
