EcoVadis Awards ANDRITZ Gold for Sustainability Excellence

EcoVadis recognized ANDRITZ with a Gold Medal, highlighting the strength of its sustainability management system and commitment to transparency across the value chain. The assessment particularly praised the company’s expanded climate reporting, which now includes scope 3 emissions, and the validation of its climate targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These validated targets form a cornerstone of ANDRITZ’s renewed sustainability program running through 2030.

Leadership Commitment to Sustainability

ANDRITZ CEO Joachim Schönbeck stated, “Sustainability is at the heart of how we innovate, operate, and grow. This recognition confirms our strategy and encourages us to further increase our efforts to enable the green transition and contribute to a healthy, thriving environment for today’s and future generations.”

The new ESG targets are designed to align ANDRITZ with global climate goals, enhance employee well-being, and strengthen responsible governance. The program focuses on three core pillars:

  1. Enabling the Green Transition

ANDRITZ is driving the shift toward a low-carbon future by delivering innovative, resource-efficient solutions for its customers and minimizing the environmental footprint of its own operations. Key performance indicators (KPIs) track progress on climate protection, water conservation, and waste reduction.

Climate goals include:

*42% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions

*25% reduction in scope 3 emissions (from 2023 baseline)

These targets align with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C pathway and have been officially approved by SBTi. Additionally, ANDRITZ aims to ensure that over 50% of its revenue comes from products enabling customers’ green transition.

Strong early progress: By the end of 2024, ANDRITZ had already cut scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 50% from 2019, achieving this milestone one year ahead of schedule. Water consumption dropped by 14%, and waste volume decreased by 36%—far surpassing the company’s original 2025 target of 10% in both areas.

  1. Supporting People’s Growth

ANDRITZ is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and fair workplace that fosters equal opportunities and personal development. The company’s focus includes:

*Increasing women in leadership roles

*Reducing voluntary turnover

*Boosting employee engagement

Workplace safety remains a top priority, with continued efforts to reduce work-related accidents and ensure a strong safety culture.

  1. Governing with Integrity

ANDRITZ upholds high ethical standards and promotes responsible business practices across its operations and supply chain. The company is working to:

*Strengthen sustainability requirements for suppliers through assessments, social audits, and ESG ratings

*Expand sustainability-related certifications for its own operations

Driving Toward 2030 and Beyond

As per company press release, with these ambitious targets, ANDRITZ is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable industrial solutions, while creating value for customers, employees, and society. The Gold Medal from EcoVadis reinforces the company’s commitment to accelerating the green transition and achieving meaningful ESG impact in the coming decade.
