The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has approved a three-month extension for Atul Gupta as Director (Commercial) of Engineers India Limited (EIL). Gupta, who currently serves as Chairman and Managing Director of EIL, will continue to hold the additional charge of Director (Commercial) from September 30. The extension will remain in effect for three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent to the position, whichever occurs earlier. The arrangement will also continue until further orders from the government.
Gupta’s Role in EIL’s Business Growth
Gupta has played an important role in strengthening EIL’s commercial operations during his tenure as Director (Commercial). In particular, he helped expand the company’s order book, strengthen its domestic market presence and increase its international footprint. Furthermore, under his leadership, EIL pursued opportunities in new markets and diversified its business beyond its traditional areas of operation. These initiatives have helped the company explore growth opportunities in infrastructure and other emerging sectors.
Focus on Technology and Sustainability
Alongside business expansion, Gupta has promoted the adoption of sustainable and
technology-driven solutions across EIL’s operations. Consequently, these initiatives have supported the company’s efforts to respond to evolving industry requirements while creating new avenues for growth. Moreover, his approach has focused on combining business development with technological advancement and sustainable practices.
Supporting Make in India
Gupta’s tenure has also contributed to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. Through greater emphasis on indigenisation and self-reliance, EIL has continued to strengthen domestic capabilities across its operations. As reported by psuwatch.com, as Gupta continues to hold the additional charge of Director (Commercial), EIL is expected to maintain its focus on order-book growth, business diversification, international expansion and technology-led solutions.
