Ester JV ELITe Secures Land for Infinite Loop™ Recycling Facility

Ester Industries Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of polyester films and specialty polymers, has announced that its joint venture, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Private Limited (ELITe), has finalized the acquisition of land near Surat, Gujarat for setting up India’s first Infinite Loop™ facility.

ELITe, a collaboration with Loop Industries, a clean technology innovator specializing in 100% recycled PET plastic and polyester fiber, will invest about ₹1,600 crore in this greenfield chemical recycling plant.

Transforming Waste into Value

The Infinite Loop™ plant will recycle polyester textile waste into virgin-quality PET resin, advancing India’s circular economy. Planned with an initial capacity of 70,000 metric tons per year, the facility will also allow for a future expansion of an additional 100,000 metric tons. By leveraging Loop’s proprietary technology, the plant will help reduce India’s reliance on virgin plastics while ensuring a sustainable supply chain for textiles and packaging.

Strategic Location in Gujarat’s PCPIR

The project site, located in the Petroleum, Chemicals, and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) near Surat—India’s synthetic textile hub—offers strategic advantages. These include:

*Direct access to abundant polyester textile waste feedstock

*A skilled petrochemical workforce

*A streamlined permitting environment

*Proximity to a deep-water seaport for cost-efficient PET resin exports

This positioning ensures strong infrastructure support and future scalability.

Sustainability at the Core

The Infinite Loop™ India facility will use approximately 80% clean, renewable electricity and biofuel. The recycled PET resin can cut carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional virgin, petroleum-based PET. This reduction will significantly lower environmental impact and create a closed-loop ecosystem for polyester in India.

Leadership Perspective

Arvind Singhania, Chairman, Ester Industries Limited, said, “This is a significant step forward in implementing the project and in our commitment to advancing circular economy solutions in India. Gujarat, being the hub of India’s polyester textile industry, offers the ideal ecosystem for our first Infinite Loop™ facility. This project will not only reduce carbon emissions and reliance on virgin plastics but also build a sustainable value chain for the textile and packaging sectors. We are proud to be at the forefront of India’s clean technology transition.”

Laying the Groundwork for Construction

As per company press release, the land acquisition agreement marks the foundation for ground-breaking and construction activities. The facility has robust logistics, secure feedstock, and strong expansion potential. It is set to position ELITe as a leader in sustainable polyester recycling, both in India and globally.
