Government Takes Steps for Uninterrupted Ethanol Supplies

Government is actively addressing potential disruptions in ethanol supplies for gasoline blending, following restrictions on ethanol production from cane juice aimed at bolstering sugar availability. To achieve the targeted twenty percent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025/26, the focus has shifted to maize-based ethanol production.

Initiatives are underway to enhance maize production in order to meet these blending objectives. Despite concerns about sugar output due to uneven rains in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the government’s commitment to its ethanol blending goals remains on track.

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, in alignment with India’s pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, there is a concerted effort to promote cleaner alternatives across industries. These initiatives include encouraging the blending of biogas with natural gas, adopting bio-diesel, and generating ethanol from both grains and agricultural waste.
