Hungary Joins International Solar Alliance

Hungary has officially joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as its ninety-sixth member. The ISA, consisting of over 120 signatory countries, aims to diminish reliance on non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels.

During a meeting between Hungarian Ambassador Istvan Szabo and P Kumaran, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for economic relations and development administration partnership (ER and DPA) at the ministry of external affairs, Hungary was presented with the instrument of ratification.

Chile became the ninety-fifth member of the ISA in November. The ISA, conceived as a collaborative effort between India and France, currently boasts 116 countries as signatories to its framework agreement. As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, and according to ISA Director General Ajay Mathur, this year’s investment in solar energy is projected to reach $380 billion, following last year’s total investment of $310 billion. Mathur also highlighted that the ISA is actively supporting the development of 9.5 GW of solar energy projects worldwide.
