Gradiant, a global provider of advanced water and wastewater treatment solutions, is strengthening its presence in India with new leadership, five design-build contracts and a significant expansion of its local workforce. The company plans to increase its India team by more than 40% this year as demand grows across semiconductor, printed circuit board (PCB) and solar manufacturing. As India rapidly develops the infrastructure supporting the AI economy, reliable water management is becoming increasingly critical. Semiconductor fabs, electronics plants and solar manufacturing facilities require high-quality water supplies and advanced wastewater treatment systems to maintain continuous production.
India MD Appointed
To lead its next phase of growth, Gradiant has appointed Hari Prasad as Managing Director, India. He will oversee the company’s expansion across the semiconductor, data centre and energy sectors. Hari brings nearly 30 years of experience in water technology and industrial water management. Before joining Gradiant, he served as General Manager, Industrial Water at Pentair and held senior positions across India, the Middle East and Africa. His appointment comes as India accelerates investments in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics and clean energy infrastructure.
Five New Contracts Strengthen India Business
Meanwhile, Gradiant has secured five new design-build contracts covering semiconductor, PCB and solar manufacturing. The contracts include a repeat order from a global chipmaker expanding its semiconductor fabrication facility. Under these projects, Gradiant will provide ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems. These solutions will help manufacturers maintain reliable production while complying with India’s increasingly stringent wastewater discharge requirements. In addition, Gradiant’s high water-recovery capabilities, proven ZLD performance and fast project execution helped strengthen its position with customers.
Expanding Engineering and Project Capabilities
To support its growing project pipeline, Gradiant is also expanding its India workforce by more than 40% during the year. The recruitment drive will cover engineering, project execution, operations and digital roles. The company’s Engineering Center in Coimbatore will play an important role in this expansion, supporting Gradiant’s projects in India as well as international markets. According to Prakash Govindan, CEO of Gradiant, India is emerging as a key manufacturing hub for the global AI supply chain, spanning chips, circuit boards and solar cells. The company believes its combination of local engineering expertise and advanced water-treatment technologies positions it to serve manufacturers looking to rapidly expand their production capacity.
Water Management Becomes Critical to India’s Manufacturing Growth
Gradiant designs, builds and operates water infrastructure for industries supporting the AI economy, including semiconductors, data centres, energy and other advanced manufacturing sectors. As a result, water availability, treatment reliability and ZLD compliance are becoming increasingly important factors in industrial project development. Alongside power and land availability, access to reliable water infrastructure can influence where new manufacturing capacity is established and how quickly projects become operational.
India Orders and Revenue Expected to Surge
Gradiant expects its India orders to more than double this year, while revenue is projected to more than triple. Hari Prasad highlighted the critical role of water infrastructure in manufacturing, noting that semiconductor fabs and solar plants cannot operate without a dependable water supply and effective wastewater management. With India’s manufacturing ecosystem expanding rapidly, Gradiant is increasing its engineering capabilities and workforce to meet rising demand for ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge solutions. As per the press release, the latest contracts and leadership appointment therefore mark another important step in Gradiant’s India growth strategy, particularly as semiconductor, electronics and clean energy manufacturing investments accelerate across the country.
